CLASS DESCRIPTIONS AND DRESS CODE

All Out Dance Academy has designed class offerings to train well-rounded dancers and exceptional, responsible people.  Part of the discipline of dance training is learning responsibility and accountability.  Adhering to class dress-codes teaches children responsibility and sets the tone and frame of mind for a productive class.

classes for 3-5 and 5-7 yrs 

3-5yr Ballet/Tap Combo

This 1-hour class is designed to introduce first time dancers to the structure of dance class and continue skill training for dancers in their early years.  Dancers will spend 30 minutes learning ballet skills and 30-minutes focused on tap instruction  in a fun and creative but structured environment.  Dancers will perform ONE dance in the genre of the teacher’s choosing at the end of the year recital.

3-5yr Hip Hop

This 30-minute class is a fun introduction to Hip Hop for young dancers.  Dancers will learn beginner hip hop skills, coordination, stretching and counting with fun upbeat music. Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

3-5-yr and 5-7yr  Acro

Acro is a gymnastics based class that focuses on strength and flexibility. Skills will be taught in a progressive manner based on each dancer individual age and skill level. This is a skills only class and dancers will  not perform at the end of the year recital.

5-7yr Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo

This 1 ½ -hour class adds Jazz instruction to dancers’ training while helping them adjust to longer instruction and focus times.  Dancers will spend 30 minutes learning and perfecting skills in each genre.  Dancers will perform TWO dances in the genres of the teacher’s choosing at the end of the year recital.

5-7yr HIP HOP

This 30-minute class is designed as an extension of the 5-7 Combo class to give dancers, that are ready for 2 full hours of instruction, more diversity in their training.  Dancers will learn beginner hip hop skills, practice putting choreography together, and explore rhythm and patterns in music in more detail. Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

6-8yr Ballet

Ballet is the fundamental foundation for most styles of dance.  Ballet training helps dancers understand the way their body moves and builds the muscles necessary to execute technical skills needed for multiple styles of dance.  This 1-hour class will introduce dancers to the traditional format of ballet training with a full barre warm-up, Center work including Adagio and Allegro, and ending class with Reverence.  Dancers will gain strength, control, balance and gracefulness in movement throughout this class. Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

6-8yr Tap

This class with help dancers develop rhythm and understand music at a deeper level.  Tap is a rhythmic percussive dance form that uses the sounds from a dancer’s feet to accompany music or to create their own.  Dancers will learn traditional tap technique perfecting basic skills that they will eventually put into more complex patterns for choreography. Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

6-8yr Jazz

Jazz dance introduces a stylistic dance vocabulary for a fun, expressive way of dancing. This dance style is known for its upbeat music and choreography style. Basic jazz dance technique will be introduced in this class as well as a more in depth stretching routine to improve flexibility and strength.  Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

6-8yr Lyrical

This class takes the fundamentals of ballet and jazz and combines them into a slower flowing dance form that allows for emotional expression through movement.  Dancers will enjoy the slower pace and artistic exploration that lyrical dance offers while also improving on ballet and jazz technique.  Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

6-8yr Hip Hop
Hip Hop encompasses many different urban dance styles as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. This class teaches rhythm, coordination, musicality and choreography without suggestive music or movements. Students are challenged to think on their feet while enjoying an energetic and fast-paced dance class. Dancers will develop focus, strength, and agility while having fun.  Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

6-8 Musical Theater

Musical Theater is a jazz based dance class using movement, expression and acting skills to perform music and themes from live theater, television and movie productions. Dancers will learn a fun, expressive way of dancing to tell a story,  Jazz dance technique, as well as a more in depth stretching routine to improve flexibility and strength.  Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

9-11 Ballet

Beginner Level - for dancers just starting out in their ballet training or taking consistent ballet classes for less than two years.  Dancers will learn or review and perfect all basic ballet vocabulary and technical skills and work toward preparing for Intermediate Level classes.

 

Intermediate Level - for dancers that have been taking ballet classes consistently for two or more years.  Dancers should have a strong understanding of ballet vocabulary and intermediate level strength, flexibility and technical execution.  Intermediate level ballet dancers may begin pre-pointe and pointe work, at the recommendation of their teacher, when their feet and ankles have developed in growth and strength.  Please do not purchase pointe shoes without a recommendation from the teacher!  Pointe placement will only be offered to dancers that are taking intermediate ballet class twice per week and show proper strength and readiness.

9-11 Tap

Intermediate Level - for dancers that have been taking tap classes consistently for two or more years.  Dancers should have a strong understanding of tap vocabulary and intermediate level speed and clarity.

9-11 Lyrical/Contemporary

This class takes the fundamentals of ballet and jazz and combines them into a slower flowing dance form that allows for emotional expression through movement.  Their Contemporary training will incorporate aspects of Modern dance with even more exploration in telling a story or conveying emotion through movement.  Dancers will enjoy the slower pace and artistic exploration that lyrical and contemporary dance offers while also improving on ballet and jazz technique.  Dancers will perform ONE dance at the end of the year recital.

 

Beginner Level - for dancers just starting out in their lyrical/contemporary training or taking consistent jazz  and ballet classes for less than two years.  Dancers will learn or review and perfect all basic lyrical and contemporary vocabulary and technical skills and increase  flexibility and strength while preparing for Intermediate Level classes.

 

Intermediate Level - for dancers that have been taking jazz classes consistently for two or more years.  Dancers should have a strong understanding of jazz vocabulary and intermediate level flexibility and technical execution.

9-11 Leaps and Turns

This technique class designed to assist students in strengthening and improving the skills of different leaps, jumps and turns that dancers perform in Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance.  This class will NOT perform at the end of the year recital.

This technique class designed to assist students in strengthening and improving the skills of different leaps, jumps and turns that dancers perform in Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance.  This class will NOT perform at the end of the year recital.

11-Up Beginner Drill Prep

This class is designed to help dancers that have limited dance experience prepare for Middle School or High School Drill Team tryouts.  Drill Team Prep will focus on proper execution of the important skills needed to make the team and help dancers grow and perfect those skills once they are on the team.  Dancers will work on leaps, turns, kick technique and tricks as well as connecting and performing choreography.  This is a technique class and will not have a recital performance.

14-Up HS Drill Team Technique (Int/Adv)

This technique class is designed specifically for more seasoned dancers that are trying out for High School Drill Team or those already on the team that want to perfect their skills and improve as a team member.  Dancers will work on more advanced turns, leaps and tricks as well as improving their flexibility, strength and overall technique. This is a technique class and will not have a recital performance.
